Fit and Fed

We are partnering with StreetGames, FareShare and Bradford Council’s Department of Public Health to make holiday-time food provision for children and young people across the district. Fit and Fed is a response to a growing body of research on the triple inequalities of holiday hunger, isolation and inactivity. 60% of families with an annual income of £25,000 can’t always afford food during the school holidays, and families on less than £15,000 report a ‘constant struggle’.

The Fit and Fed project was piloted in Bradford in spring 2017 and rolled out across Bradford in the 2017 summer holidays.

Through Fit and Fed we are providing nutritious and balanced breakfasts and lunches to children who need them through five community projects and organisations working with children around Bradford. The initial target is to provide at least 250,000 healthy lunches to 7,500 children during the 2017 summer holidays.
