Welfare Management & Support

Inn Churches works throughout the year to support the guests who have visited our Winter Shelter, as well as other homeless and vulnerable people around Bradford.

We actively pursue finding pathways which enable guests to access the services they need and to move them from the street into sustainable independent living. When desired, we try to connect them with local churches or community services to help them integrate as quickly as possible into their new environment.

Our Health Support Service is a locally-based service specifically designed to support:

  • people with serious or enduring health problems
  • those who have complex needs
  • those who have not engaged with mainstream health services.

It is particularly aimed at people who have repeated episodes of admission into hospital or are in need of support during a period of crisis.

Support is tailored to meet the needs of the individual, with a focus on improving health and wellbeing, and we work closely with partner agencies and organisations. Support and help available could include:

  • accessing health services
  • assistance with benefit claims or grant applications
  • help with housing and tenancy issues
  • accessing debt advice
  • assistance with training and volunteering opportunities
  • any other presenting issues.

The aim of the service is to support individuals in reaching the services that best meet their needs and improve their health and wellbeing.

We also work through Acts 435 (a Christian charity which matches people who want to give with those in genuine need), our Starter Packs service and Warm Homes Healthy People to support guests with particular needs as they move into their first tenancies.

If you are aware of somebody with a particular and specific need – for instance a larger item of furniture, a court fee, utility bills, household items or clothing – then get in touch with us so that we can assess their need and attempt to connect them somebody who can meet it. Please note however that there is no guarantee a request will be met.

For further details of any of these services, please contact our Welfare Management team.
